Ørestad Half Marathon is officially AIMS-certified and measured in accordance with World Athletics’ international guidelines for precise half marathon distance measurement.
The 21.0975 km route is 100% asphalt, extremely flat and fast, and meets all technical requirements for valid results and personal bests.
The race thus follows the same standards as the world’s largest and most recognized half marathons.
The world’s flattest and fastest course
The course is documented to be faster than the Copenhagen Half Marathon, both in calm and windy conditions. The long, straight stretches and few sharp turns provide an optimal rhythm and significantly faster times. Comparisons also show that even with moderate headwinds on the Fælled, runners gain more time back on the long, open stretches with tailwinds.
Long, straight stretches
Ørestad Half Marathon has only 5 turns over 30 degrees compared to Copenhagen Half Marathon’s 17. Runners get the opportunity for rhythm and flow all the way.
Flat and fast
Total elevation gain is only 7 meters (Klimadatastyrelsen) compared to Copenhagen Half Marathon’s 32 meters. Likely the world’s fastest course.
100% asphalt
Clean running routes without manhole covers and tracks. Completely without speed bumps. Wind speeds above 8 m/s are still faster than the Copenhagen Half Marathon.
World-class timing
The elite field runs with a chip (Race Result), and their official times are determined by gun time. The chip is also used to provide all other runners with their personal net time from start to finish line.
Certified course
The course is DAF/AIMS certified. This means it is measured and approved by Worlds Athletics.
World-class course
Maidenhead (UK) and St. Michaels (USA) are the only known half marathons in the world with an equally flat and fast course.
Urban nature national park
End the season with an autumn race in Copenhagen that offers both professionals and recreational runners a flat, fast, and scenic experience – and a medal they will remember!
Kalvebod Fælled has been designated as an urban nature national park, making Ørestad Half Marathon the first race in such a park. Here you will run among wild fallow deer, horses, and a rich birdlife in the open expanses of nature.
